On 30 Nov 2016 at Lahar Café (Okato) students from Coastal Taranaki School met with key members of the local community and staff from the Department of Conservation and the Taranaki Regional Council to discuss positive actions to protect threatened bird species at Komene Maori Reservation (see workshop brochure here). The students presented the work from their action projects which included dog footprint surveys and results from the CoastBlitz at the Komene Maori Reservation. The meeting resulted in lots of positive and productive suggestions that the students will now put into action through working with the Komene Maori Reservation Trustees and other key members of the local community. What a fantastic result!
